Dr. István Stumpf received an award from the Brazilian Academy of Philosophy

Between August 22 and 27, Prof. Dr. István Stumpf visited Brazil for the international scientific conference entitled "The future of the Brazilian state", where he gave an opening lecture on the topic "Challenges of Rule of Law: Juristocracy, Deep State, Administrative State." Organized by the Brazilian Academy of Philosophy and the State Secretariat for Science, Technology and Innovation of the State of Rio de Janeiro, the central topic of the conference held between August 23 and 24 was judicial activism and its impact on fundamental rights, the state, government, public security, politics and the economy.

At the end of the conference, Prof. Dr. István Stumpf was awarded the Order of Merit of Brazilian Thought for his outstanding achievements in the field of social sciences. This prestigious award is named after António Paim, the founder of the Brazilian Academy of Philosophy, and is the first time it has been awarded to a social scientist publishing in a language other than Portuguese. The award was presented by Edgard Leite, president of the Brazilian Academy of Philosophy.
