800 Years of the Golden Bull

800 Years of the Golden Bull

Editor, author: Judit Merkler-Szántó, Budapest 2022

The Golden Bull of 1222, issued by Andrew II, on the one hand modernized the legal system of the late Árpád era, on the other hand laid the legal foundations of the orderly society, regulating the privileges and obligations for centuries. The principles and values formulated in the Golden Bull are still guiding principles today, which is why the Foundation decided to publish a bilingual study volume in Hungarian and English, supplemented with high-quality visual material.

The introduction to the volume was written by Vizi E. Szilveszter, a founding member of our foundation, while the foreword was written by Tamás Sulyok, still the President of the Constitutional Court. In addition to excerpts from previously published studies, the study by Ferenc Kulin and Jenő Szmodis, as well as maps showing Europe and Hungary at the time, were prepared separately for this volume.

Language: Hungarian and English and Latin

The volume can be downloaded in pdf format HERE.
